Ambience

A large part of trying to make the animation seem cohesive was the ambience. I knew going into this that I wanted a different ambience for each character. The “day” character to me felt open and light like a field in summertime so I decided to add sounds of wood pigeons and other wildlife to create this effect. “Night”  felt completely the opposite to me, closed in with a heavy depth to it. I used crickets and wind to create a darker atmosphere when he appeared on screen. I think that having two distinct ambiences for each character was an easy and fun way to make a separation between them, it also added depth to the project and enhances the storyline; at the start they both have two completely separate sound and energies but by the end of the story, the line between night and day is completely blurred and their ambience is merged. I also used a few synth drones and pads to create feelings of tenseness within the piece.
